ABOUT THE PROJECT

CITY PARK MASTER PLAN

City Park is the oldest and most centrally located park in the City, dating back to 1913. City celebrations have taken place in the park for over 90 years and span over 4 generations of memories.

In recent years, due to safety concerns of residents and the declining nature of the park, fewer members of the community use this historical “diamond in the rough.”

The City Park Master Plan will help us transform City Park into the safe, active space our community deserves.

About the Plan

The good news is we didn’t start from scratch.

In 2009, a City Park Revitalization plan was completed by Baxter Miller Landscape Architect. Due to the recession, no funds were available to move forward with the construction of the park, and the project was shelved. The work done in 2009 will be reviewed and assessed as a part of the new City Park Master Plan.

However, the City has changed a lot since then! The current state of the park, community input, and other City needs will drive the City Park Master Plan. Rather than looking at just park revitalization, the masterplan will also consider community priorities as well as the overall layout, design, and vision for the park, allowing the City to plan more holistically for the future.

Your feedback helped us develop the City Park Master Plan

In 2022, we set out to hear from you on what the more important amenities are for City Park. We heard from over 2,100 unique voices and perspectives. Top desires included walking trails, playgrounds, pavilions, water features, botanical garden, arboretum, splash pad, aquatic center, field sports and keeping the popular skate park.

In June of 2023, the Corona City Council adopted the City Park Master Plan.
